In this beautiful video a group of indian children and teenagers with wonderful voices invite us to save the lives of truth and water. Otherwise, the earth will ask us where were you when the water became angry and sad and the rivers were crying.
Paani (Water) Song’s music was composed by Allah Rakha Rahman, Indian film maker, composer, record producer, singer and song writer, and the lyrics were written by Prasson Joshi, Indian poet, screenwriter and communication specialist.
Both wanted to raise awareness about the urgent water crisis faced by India and the world in general, joining efforts with the Harpic – News 18 Mission Paani to create the Mission Paani Anthem. At the forefront of this collaboration are young children who lead the movement for water conservation and better hygiene.
You may enjoy the song in Hindi with the help of the following English version of the poem:
Water Song
Part one
Think why we are today
Alarmed, and fearful about water
This quiet water, why?
Come lets change the story, story
Lets save this icon, we will
Otherwise the earth will ask us
Where were you then?
The rivers were crying
Where were you then?
The truth and water
We need to save both their lives
Tha thak, tha thak
(Repeat of part one)
Part two
Its been angry for so long, this water
Its been sad, why?
Come lets change the story, story
Lets save this icon, we will
Otherwise the earth will ask us
Where were you then?
The rivers were crying
Where were you then?
The truth and water
We need to save both their lives
Drip, drip, drap, drip, drip, drap
Come save this heritage, this water
This is mine and yours, lets save
(Repeat of part one)
